There is something special about photographing a place that already has a history before you even enter. Chiafura — the famous district of caves carved into the rock of Scicli, that enchanted Pasolini and Sciascia - look again on the coast. The caves are no longer inhabited, but the houses leaning against the rock still exist. This is one of those.

The photographic story

The service moved along an essential line, documentary. The objective was to enhance the individual pieces, the corners, the micro-environments expertly created in a space where modern design and collectibles coexist without forcing.

The materials tell as much as the shapes: textures are emphasized, light used to reveal surfaces rather than soften them.

Postproduction

The choice was documentary, faithful to the environment. The work in the development phase focused in particular on the management of lights: the strong difference in light intensity between inside and outside - inevitable in an apartment directly overlooking the landscape - required careful recovery of the highlights in the transition areas, to keep both the internal environments and the external view legible, without sacrificing either one or the other.

The bathroom and the (little) luce

A special case is the bathroom, photographed in double version: ambient light and artificial lighting specific to the environment. A technical choice that offers freedom of use to the customer — images in natural light for OTAs, who always favor it, those with artificial lighting for communication on their channels, where the character of the space can express itself with more personality.
